Motion design

FALL 2025

These are two projects I created in my motion design class, where I learned how to use Adobe After Effects. The first project was an informational promotion video, while the second was a concept for motion graphics for the CFDA Fashion Awards.

PROJECT ONE: MUSIC & THE BRAIN

THE PROCESS:

STORY BOARD SKETCH:

For this project, I began by creating a storyboard for my topic, which was an informational motion graphic based on what happens in your brain when you listen to music. I wanted things to look scientific, and provide visuals of a diagram of the brain along with the actions being acted out to provide a good visual of what is actually going on. As someone who is a visual learner, I thought this would be a great way to demonstrate this topic.

After creating my story board, I went into Illustrator and created my assets to then put into Adobe After Effects. I ended up building out my story board entirely digitally too, which helped immensely when I went to go animate everything.

FINAL VIDEO:

Overall, I am happy with how this video turned out. It was a difficult process getting to learn After Effects, and while I would do a few things differently now, I am proud of being able to learn this new software and think about design in a motion sense.

PROJECT TWO: CFDA FASHION AWARDS

THE PROCESS:

STORY BOARD SKETCH:

FINAL VIDEO:

This was one of my first experiences with editing videos within After Effects, so it was definitely a challenge but a rewarding one nonetheless. This class brought me a new set of skills that I am happy to have going into my career.

For this project, I was creating an animated logo, nomination sequence, and a lower-third title card to pop up at the bottom of the screen. I decided to keep my animations for this project very simple due to the classy and elegant nature of CFDA’s branding.
